Gina's Priorities

Take a look at a few things Gina has done over the last four years, and how she plans to continue making Knox County a better place as your Knox County Commissioner for District 3.

Infrastructure and Development

Knox County is growing at an exponential rate. More people than ever are making this area their home. This influx of people requires strategic planning and careful, community minded approaches to balance new development while protecting our existing communities. This also requires revitalizing existing infrastructure so that roads, schools, and other essential services are not overwhelmed.

Since being elected, Gina has brought over $6,000,000 of road and water mitigation improvements to the district, had over 12 miles of roads repaved, and had over 200 road signs replaced. In addition, she has fought for additional safety measures to be added on Schaffer Rd, a new traffic light at the intersection of Lovell Road and Gilbert Road, and has secured funds for a new traffic light at the intersection of Dutchtown Road and Mabryhood Road.

Public Education

As a mother and a grandmother, there is nothing more important to me than protecting our kids and providing them the best opportunities for their future. This starts with our schools. I will continue to promote properly funding our schools and advocating for competitive teacher pay to attract the best educators for younger generations.

Since being elected, Gina has voted for pay raises for Knox County teachers. She also partnered with Maddox Properties to donate $95,000 for an outdoor classroom and turf at Cedar Bluff Elementary School.

Public Safety

Law enforcement work tirelessly every day to keep our communities safe from danger. They deserve our upmost respect for what they do. I will continue to promote policies that support law enforcement and other first responders including advocating for better competitive pay.

Since being elected, Gina voted for the largest law enforcement pay raise in Knox County Sheriff Office history. She also proposed and passed an honorary resolution for Sheriff Spangler for winning the national Lion Award for law enforcement.

Economic Development and Taxes

Knox County is a great place to raise a family and operate a business, and we want to keep it that way. That’s why I believe in promoting policies that keep Knox County affordable, maintain a business-friendly environment, and keep taxes as low as possible so that taxpayers do not have added financial burdens.

Gina was instrumental in bringing new businesses such as Andy’s Frozen Custard and Beehive Industries to District 3, and has continually kept taxes low for Knox County residents.

People Over Politics

Local governance is about empowering our community, one conversation at a time. As a dedicated public servant, my role is to listen attentively, approach differing opinions with an open mind, and propose solutions that benefit the community as a whole. Accessibility and transparency are important to me which is why I continuously host town hall meetings to hear my constituent’s concerns directly from them. I believe that by putting people first, whether it be by having potholes filled or planning new infrastructure, we can rise above the partisan divides and build a brighter future for Knox County.

In her first term, Gina secured over $400,000 in aid for clean-up efforts after the 2022 tornado and ensured our most vulnerable citizens could be loaned generators until power could be restored. She has hosted over 12 community town hall meetings to meet with neighbors to hear their concerns and continues to do so. Gina also serves seniors by regularly volunteering with Mobile Meals.
